This course provides a comprehensive overview of the history of HIV/AIDS, from the early recognition of the epidemic in the 1980s to its evolution into a chronic, manageable condition. Participants will examine the origins of HIV, early public health responses, stigma and societal impact, and key milestones in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. In addition, the course highlights new and emerging developments in HIV prevention and care, including advances in antiretroviral therapy, long-acting injectable medications, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), rapid and self-testing technologies, and the concept of Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U).

Teaching oral health

Here at SFDHA, our community service initiatives are at the heart of our mission. We strive to make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve. Our recent project involved volunteering at Boulevard Heights Elementary School and teaching 23 3rd to 5th graders with Autism about oral health. Thanks to the generosity of the SFDHA community service funds, each child received a Spin brush to help maintain their oral hygiene practices.
